Anthony Kiedis wrote this song after Kurt Cobain's death. Nirvana opened for the the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their '91 tour. The first time Anthony met Kurt, he was "wearing a dress" as a live costume. Anthony Kiedis was very affected by Kurt Cobain's death; almost in tears when he first heard the news and wrote this song to show how much he truly adored him. “Kurt’s death was an emotional blow, and we all felt it. I don’t know why everyone on earth felt so close to that guy; he was beloved and endearing and inoffensive in some weird way.
