Info about song

One of the most enduring songs from On the Sunday of Life... This was written entirely by Steven Wilson and was inspired by the movie "Threads", which dealt with the devastating aftermath of a nuclear attack on the British Midlands. Radioactive Toy was the track which convinced Richard Allen that Porcupine Tree could be successful - "I realised that in that song was the seed of a truly great band, if only it could be exposed to a wider audience and given some kind of serious financial backing... The overall effect was unlike anything else around at the time, and harked back to an era when rock music was much more adventurous and elastic." Radioactive Toy was also the musical blueprint for the subsequent evolution of Porcupine Tree, and still makes regular appearances in their live live set. Chris: "The track became a real live monster - I love milking the thing, making it slower and slower and getting all the light and shade into it." Read more on Last.fm.
