Info about song

Originally entitled "Toursong" and written by Steven Wilson while touring material from The Sky Moves Sideways, this song began life as a fairly drab account of life on the road and its attendant boredoms. Richard Allen (Delerium Records): "Both myself and the rest of the band all objected the lyrics - it was a bit like 'came off stage, had a cup of tea, went to bed' - that's not rock 'n' roll! So he changed it to a comment about the business of being a musician and a product." The result was one of the most haunting songs in the Porcupine Tree catalogue. Steven: "Being a musician, trying to create something of significance with your life when actually you spend ninety-five percent of your time pissing away your time in the backs of vans on the way to gigs, hanging around, failing to make the record you wanted to make through compromise... That sense of insignificance, of not doing what you should be doing with your life - I'm as guilty as anyone." The last song on Signify, and therefore one of the songs that closes the Delerium chapter of Porcupine Tree's career. Read more on Last.fm.
