Info about song

This is the story of a woman's life, from her marriage. birth of her children, divorce, and starting her life over at a minimum wage job. The title line is part of the chorus, where all the things the character does to be sure that everything runs smoothly includes the thought of her husband just accepting it as part of his due. While I don't know whether this was her inspiration or not, at the time there was a commercial for a woman's vitamin that was supposed to keep a woman doing an unbelievable amount of work and the husband uses part of that condescending remark about keeping her around. I never bought the product because he seemed like such a jerk. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
