Info about song

Ocean Cloud is the closing track on the first disc on Marillion's 2004 double album, Marbles. It is dedicated to the late Don Allum, an ocean rower who rowed the Atlantic Ocean both ways. The album's liner notes contain a URL to the online log of Allum's last voyage. The Hogarth-penned lyrics deal mostly with Allum and his lone oceanic voyage. Indeed, the song's working title had been "Pacific Rower". However, the lyrics also contain references to Hogarth's own youth, notably when he was publicly humiliated by his games teacher. At 17:57, the song is Marillion's longest track to date, topping even "Grendel". It goes through many tempo and key changes, but the main chorus returns at the end. Due to its complexity, it is rarely played live. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
