"Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" is a song written by American musician Stephen Stills and performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN). It appeared on the group's 1969 eponymous debut album and was released as a single, reaching #21 on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. In Canada, it peaked at number 11. The song is a suite in the classical sense, i.e. an ordered set of musical pieces. The title "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" (a play on words for "Sweet Judy Blue Eyes") refers to Stephen Stills' former girlfriend, singer-songwriter Judy Collins, and the lyrics to most of the suite's sections consist of his thoughts about her and their imminent breakup. Collins is known for her piercing blue eyes. The lyrics tell a story of lovers with the characteristic melodies for which the band became known. CSN performed "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" as their opening song at the Woodstock festival and at the Live Aid festival; their performance at the former features in the 1970 film Woodstock.
