In and around the Oklahoma music scene, those in the know have been wondering what Tim Miser has been up to lately. After an impressive solo debut in 2003 with Into Final Corners (Flat Earth), Miser seemed to disappear into obscurity – no new recordings, no shows, no website.
Blending the directness, simplicity and unabashed melodic tendencies of early country and folk artists ranging from Hank Williams and Johnny Cash to Neil Young and James Taylor, with the lyrical attention of Bruce Springsteen and the more modern sounds of Son Volt, Counting Crows and Wilco, Into Final Corners constructed a vital new take on solid pop songwriting. And while members of Miser’s former backing band Lasso went on to play with the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Rosie Thomas, Ester Drang, and Cheyenne, Miser quietly went back to his life Oklahoma and started a family.
His music promotion machine may have ground to a halt, but Tim Miser never stopped doing what he became most known for – writing incredible songs.
After a lengthy hiatus, Miser is gearing up to release two albums worth of new songs that are destined to cement his legacy as one of Oklahoma’s great forgotten talents. In the fall of 2011, Miser will release the raw, acoustic album Blind Alley, followed in the spring of 2012 with the full studio production effort Pedestrian Trafficways. Read more on Last.fm.
