Motown is not only known for putting people in wheels, it is also arguably known to be the birth place of Soul Music! The music of Detroit has influenced the world with R&B, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Gospel, Hip Hop and Rock N Roll. With that dedication to Motown’s rich tradition “The Infatuations” are a band that celebrates Detroit’s music history in every song they write and perform. Their style of music is an amalgamation of Funk, Soul, Disco and Pop with a Rock Twist; creating dance grooves and undeniable pop hooks with an extravagant passion to entertain that will have people of all ages and racial divides dancing in their seats.
The Infatuations are currently working on the full length follow up to their 2009 debut EP "January Sessions" which features Aaron Julison on Bass and guest performances from Ty Stone & Stefanie Eulinberg.
Quotes:
Brett Callwood - Journalist at Metro Times - "The Infatuations’ January Sessions (Acid Groove) sound like the sort of music that Justin Timberlake wishes he had the balls to make. In other words, this is fun and dance-able white-boy disco-soul. “Dancin’ On My Knees”, in particular, is a great tune."
Adam O’Connor – Journalist at Real Detroit Weekly – “The Infatuations are like a can full of disco-funk, Motown soul and Detroit rock. Yet another very Motor City-sounding band well worth checking out.”
John Lenac - VP of Yahoo Music & Video - "Yahoo is going to put our arms around this band, embrace this band and break this band". Yahoo has added The Infatuations song Dancin' On My Knees to their rotation on their Funk Station and Coffee House Station.
Mary Moreau - Detroit Underground Scene Examiner - "I found this band through Myspace and I love their music. With hot dance tracks like “Dancing on My Knees”, January Sessions is destined to be a club favorite."
Rick Keyes - Music Caravan on Palomar College Radio. “The Infatuations EP January Sessions was too short! Five songs were not enough I wanted to hear more! However every song on January Sessions was excellent and included softer romantic music like So Sexy to hoppin dance music from Dancin’ on my Knees. Music Caravan predicts Taste and So Sexy to become Hits! Listen and enjoy January Sessions until their full CD is released”.
Rick Gillette - Program Director of KZON/Phoenix - Re: Dancin' On My Knees "very cool song...funky fresh and retro all at the same time So Sexy is awesome as well, it's all brilliant"
Detroit Rock Review – “We at DR2 love when we get to hear something so unique, and so very Detroit, (yeh, we just used Detroit as an adjective!) so you gotta know we were already lovin' this 5 song epic, when the last track hit us squarely in that happy place only music can reach.”
MG Nader – Detroit Live Magazine – “This group of young veteran musicians has taken the Motown roots combined with their obsession of celebration to create a new Detroit sound that will have you Dancing On Your Knees.” (Dancin’ On My Knees) “This tune puts me in a past era while feeling like the present. Its rock n beat and Motown feel would have had Berry Gordy dancing on his head to hear more.”
