Haunting beauty...power and grace...atmospheric and melodic guitar drenched modern rock music...these are just a few of the many ways to describe the songs and artistry of EMI Publishing's Stacy Wilde. As a singer, Stacy's voice is a unique blend; powerful, sexy, intelligent and true. She accomplishes the amazing feat of sounding simultaneously fresh and world-weary.
As a writer, Stacy's music takes her listeners to deep inner places across cinematic emotional landscapes channeling the intense passion and beauty of her diverse influences, ranging from U2 and Coldplay to Springsteen and Dylan. Stacy Wilde has steadily been emerging on the scene; playing before such legendary acts as The Kinks, Crosby Stills & Nash, and Fleetwood Mac, with her music appearing on TV ("Charmed") and films ("The Last Request" starring Danny Aiello) an
appearance on the Aware Compilation CD which includes songs from fellow artist's Jack
Johnson, Blue, Wheat, and Mutual Admiration Society, as well as her own Atlantic Records debut
album "Tear Down The Sky".
As a young performer Stacy cut her teeth in the legendary club scene of the Jersey Shore, where she was a protege singing with LaBamba and The Hubcaps a popular band comprised of Bruce Springsteen's horn section (the Conan O'Brian show) and Southside Johnny's rhythm section. As Stacy recalled in a recent interview, "That was an amazing time for me...performing with these great musicians who I grew up listening to...They taught me a lot, it was like going to a great
school of rock." And coming as no surprise to anyone familiar with the storied work-ethic of those Jersey Shore bands, she adds with a wry smile, "We played long sets!" An experience that she says taught her how to be a true professional and prepared her to put her own band together and take her show on the road.
Stacy began performing her original music in clubs throughout the northeast. Her first big break occurred one night opening up for "The Clarks" at Rosebuds in Pittsburgh. In the audience was local promoter Rich Engler, who was so enthused about the show that he forwarded Stacy's music to super agent Rob Light of CAA. "Rob and Rich were early champions of me and my music," she recalls. With Rob's enthusiastic support, Stacy began touring as an opening act for
legendary artist's including Crosby, Stills & Nash, Fleetwood Mac, and the Kinks. "Sharing a stage with these legends was an unbelievable experience. The artists were so generous too...offering advice and encouragement. Ray Davies even went so far as to give me free rein to cover songs of his every night as part of my show."
Stacy continued to play in NY clubs like Mercury Lounge, Arlene's Grocery, Cafe Sine' and Fez where she was invited to perform in an ASCAP Singer/Songwriter showcase. EMI's Evan Lamberg (Rob Thomas, Hootie & The Blowfish) caught the show and immediately signed Stacy to an EMI Publishing contract. Evan's belief in Stacy was so strong she went on to sign a deal for her debut record "Tear Down The Sky" with Atlantic/Evla. "Evan's faith and guidance has been and continues to be a constant in my career and that is a rare thing in this business."
Working closely with EMI Resources TV & Film Department's Tami Lester and Keith Darcy and EMI publishing's The Innovations Group, Stacy has recorded two more records, is currently working on a third, as well as writing for specific film and tv projects. "Having my own set-up, WildWest Music, a fully integrated recording studio and production house formed with partner/collaborator David Beck allows me to create 24/7. It's been our process all along. We write the
songs, play all the instruments, do our own programming, protools, record and mix."
With many exciting new ventures on the horizon Stacy Wilde's future promises to affirm her long-simmering musical ascendency. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
