Originally the group, created in 1993 Stuttgart, Germany, went under the title Snapper, but upon discovery of a Californian Folk act claiming prior rights to the name the switch to Snap-Her was duly made. The made marked their arrival with the 1995 album 'It Smells, It Burns, It Stings', released through UK Subs guitarist Nicky Garratt's New Red Archives label. For this outing Snap-Her comprised the all female line up of vocals Andi Beltramo-Shay, bassist Lisa Pifer and drummer Sue Owens.
That year Andi Beltramo-Shay teamed up with the Nina Hagen band for live work. In keeping with their self-proclaimed 'working class punk' ethic the band put in a grueling tour schedule to promote the record with dates that year traversing the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, and Sweden. The following year brought on another extensive round of Snap-Her mainland European gigs.
Snap-Her's 1997 follow up 'Queen Bitch Of Rock & Roll', sung in English, Spanish and German, caused consternation due to CD booklet photos depicting golden showers, mistakenly attributed at first to Andi. Other points of interest on the album would be a re-worked 'Nice Girls (Don't Play Rock & Roll)' originally by Rose Tattoo and passages of Beavis & Butthead narration. The record took the band onto another lengthy road jaunt across Europe with consecutive tours in both 1998 and 1999. Drummer Elaine Fierro would opt out to join Exene Cervenka of X repute's The Original Sinners in 1999 but would then return to the ranks. Tom Curry of Kommunity FK took over on drums in 2000. A 2001 album 'Division 1' was shared with Left Alone.
Snap-Her disbanded by mutual consent in April of 2002, bowing out with a Los Angeles swansong toward the end of that month.
