The Roving Bottles where partly famous in the left and folk subculture in Hamburg and Germany in the first half of the 1990th. The Band separated 1998. Arround the second album the band was made up by Hemingway (guitar, mandola), Jestro (singing, guitar, whistle), Claus (fiddle), Frank (accordion, whistle, singing), Smiley (electric bass) and Kunja (bodhrân, percussion, singing). There music is often described as a mixture of Scottish folk an German punk. Some of there songs are German, most of theme have a serious political meaning and have links to left struggles. A good example is the song "Florasong" (The "Red Flora" is a famous squat in Hamburg). They had three albums released: The Roving Bottles, Live aus Hamburg(1994) and Warte Nicht.
