At 22, Kieran Murphy's professional career is nearly a decade old. Moving up through the ranks of the Austrailian music scene as a young teen, he was touring with his second album by age 14. Soon enough Kieran was picked up by the acoustic guitar world's greatest: Tommy Emmanuel. Traveling to the U.S.A. to perform with Tommy Emmanuel by age 15, a solo tour of Italy later that year ('04), and a return to the U.S.A. the following year with his 3rd release 'Not So Simple', propelled Kieran into the international limelight as early as it gets, and then he stepped it up. 2006 saw Kieran graduate high school, whilst touring and performing throughout his studies with such industry heavyweights as Michael Franti & Spearhead and Jackson Browne. With more time available, Kieran worked painstakingly to produce his 2007 album, the ever popular 'Per Se'. Not wasting a breath, he toured the album in Japan during May '07, and went on to tour the U.S.A. with Tommy Emmanuel through the middle of that year, before commencing studies at the internationally renowned Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, on a full scholarship in September '07. Studying at Berklee, (attended by such greats and heavyweights such as Quincy Jones, Diana Krall, John Mayer) drew musical perspective, skill and technique out which he says he can't have imagined without venturing to the other side of the world. After touring with Tommy Emmanuel again across Europe in early '08, Murphy began assembling a new sound, which culminated in '09's 'Always, Francesca'. However, the date marked a very difficult period of health for Kieran, retiring from his career indefinitely to focus on regaining his health. Now, May 2011, Kieran is back. With wonderful health, and 12 months of nothing but solitary musical study and development, his new album, 'Garden of the Light' (to be released June 2011) is set to exhibit a monstrous step up on every level. Kieran describes the album as having a strong feeling of "...freshness and new hope", truly symbolic of the place of his spirit". Read more on Last.fm.
