Triprocket was formed with a desire to write & perform music in a poptronica style, while creating lyrics that capture the multi-facets of human emotion.
Kaila Brasell is the voice of the band, and her prowess is highlighted by her legendary “one-take” vocal tracks in the the studio and dynamic performances onstage. Bobby R provides the musical direction and is responsible for the majority of the group’s remixes. He has also achieved a long list of outside production and remix credits in diverse genres in recent years. Kaila and Bobby have collaborated on various projects previously to Triprocket, enjoying moderate success on the dance club charts in the mid-90's. Veteran drummer Matt Tinonga has provided organic and mechanical beats from Triprocket's conception. John Inman joined the band on guitar in January 2002. John is also an accomplished solo artist with his group, The John Inman Netwerk which delves into instrumental rock and fusion on their two releases “Modeus Eclectic” and “skiesWIDEopen”.
Each of the members’ musical backgrounds play a large role in their sound. Triprocket’s comparisons to Garbage are well-founded, as Kaila, Bobby, Matt, and John all share that common thread of influence. Kaila also cites Aimee Mann, Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan, Matthew Sweet, and Kate Bush for her influences. Bobby gathers inspiration from his love for Brit-pop bands such as Supergrass, Charlatans UK, Boo Radleys, XTC, Blur, and Ash, to electronic artists as BT, Curve, Fatboy Slim, Bjork, Groove Armada, Felix Da Housecat, Daft Punk, and Basement Jaxx. Matt has an appreciation for club dance music and alternative rock, while John revels in the 80’s guitar rock from the likes of Journey and Def Leppard, along with progressive jazz and fusion.
What assembles from this is a melodic loopy beat, with equal amounts of edgy guitar and dreamy synth textures. Complete with catchy vocal hooks and poignant lyrics.
