in 1982, Silly Killers were a cutting edge punk band in seattle, before grunge was a common word. Punk was the thing that everyone was doing. One of the things that made Silly Killers so unique, was their absolute lack of caring who they offended while promoting shows around town. There were posters depicting women in bondage that offended a large contingent of the lesbian population on capitol hill, who later stormed a show in South Seattle, "Looking for Blood"...These promotional tactics were simply ways to get fan attention as there was never any real dislike for any group or minority. Simple shock value for attention, and it worked. Along with their mixture of Lounge singer meets punk in the form of "Eddie" commonly sitting on the front of the stage with legs crossed tipping back a mixed drink while relaxedly holding a cigarette, dressed in a short tux jacket contrasted with Slats the guitarists thrashing stage prescence backed by the Rush, Neil Peart influenced straight guy "I don't now what I'm doing in a Punk Band looking Kid behind the drums..." All together a band with a unique sound and the right timing with other cool bands. PS. They were already famous before Duff joined. He brought his thing to the gig very well but the true essence of Silly Killers was there long before. I hope we/they get together for a reunion show sometime!!! Tim G.
