Louise Killeen is a 27 year old singer/songwriter from Shannonbridge in Co. Offaly. Her father Mick Killeen owns a landmark pub in the village where live music is played every night. She has four brothers and two sisters all of which have a strong love for music which has been passed down to them from their parents. Louise began playing piano and guitar at the age of twelve, and began delving into the realm of song writing at the age of 19. Louise attended the University of Limerick for four years where she studied public administration, but always in the back of her mind she knew she was destined to follow a career in music. After travelling around the world and teaching English for a year, Louise is now following her dream and dedicates all her time to song writing and performing.
Louise's first major gig was in mother redcaps this year. She performed to a full house and received a standing ovation from an excited audience. Since then Louise has performed with Shana Wilkie in venues such as Isaac Butts, The Ruby Sessions and other venues throughout Dublin. She has also recently won a talent competition in Kiltimagh Co Mayo as a result of which she will be travelling to New York to record in a top studio in Manhattan, together with her brother Colin and lead guitarist Mick Thornhill. "Starstruck" Louise's self produced EP with co-writer Shana Wilkie was released in June 2003 and has received excellent reviews in both the Sunday tribune and Dublin's GCN magazine. Louise hopes to release a new album early next year. Everything is happening for this young girl from Shannonbridge and 2004 will no doubt be another starstruck year. Read more on Last.fm.
