Born in 1987, Lê Cát Trọng Lý is one of the most aspiring singer-songwriters in Vietnam.
In the past, she was well-known for singing at some music bars in Saigon and Da Lat including Acoustic, Nếp and Cung Tơ Chiều. She won the 3rd prize at the Hát cho niềm đam mê contest with her own song, Chênh Vênh in 2007.
The year 2008 was a turning point for Lý when she won numerous prizes in the contest Bài hát Việt, which was held by VTV3, also with the song Chênh Vênh. In 2010, she had three consecutive live shows at L'Espace, Hanoi. The tickets for these three nights were all sold out.
Finally, in January 2011, Lý released her self-titled debut studio album, including 10 tracks. Later in the same year, Lý had her first national tour, called 'Vui', which lasted for 2 months. The tour ended with 2 extra nights at L'Espace, Hanoi in October, which were called 'Vui thêm'.
During 2012, Lý continued to have small gigs in music bars or coffee shops in either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. But in May, she had two special nights called 'Lý tuổi 25', exclusive for students at Khăn Quàng Đỏ Theater, Hanoi. Both nights were recorded, and the second night was chosen to be Ly's second album, which will be eventually released in November. Also, 'Vui' Tour documentary will be released in the future, as Lý promised on her Facebook. Read more on Last.fm.
