"I did most of the songwriting in 2006 actually, but the meeting with Huub Reijnders, producer/mixer, accelerated the recording of it all. Soon after, Jim recorded three songs with producers Huub Reijnders and Jonas Filtenborg. Evil Penguin (cfr. record label) released 'So Am I' in February 2007 and 'Things' in May later that year.
Both singles received very good comments on National and Local Radio. Convinced that this could be more than a one-hit wonder, Evil Penguin then decided to record the other songs. Early July 2007, Jim hooked up with the band in MotorMusic Studios again, where they were to record the full shizzle.
"I remember being very sick, caughing and sneezing all over the place, just being drugged and drinking loads of tea...I couldn't sing a single note, it was all just at the good mercy of Huub and Jonas. But they did an excellent job. It was more than rock & roll, it funked!"
November 2007, a new single "Goodbye?" hit the radio, accompanied by Jim's first video. Once again, the track got the attention of the media , proclaiming 'Soul in 2' a very promising album. Altogether with the release of 'Soul in 2' comes 'Someday Charlotte', a sparkling new single revisiting the Motown-ish but still contemporary sound of Jim Cole.
