1) Brian Willoughby (born 20 September 1949, in Glenarm, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland) is a British guitarist. He has worked with many artists, notably Strawbs, as well as releasing solo work. He recorded two albums as Dave Cousins & Brian Willoughby.
2) Brian Willoughby is an American musician. In late 2008, Willoughby signed with Lamon, a Grammy award-winning indie label. Since June 9, 2009 his debut album has received radio airplay nationally and among being solicited by some high profile networks, Willoughby recently signed a licensing deal for the film “Much Ado About Middle School” for the song "Never Gonna Need To".
Since mid-summer 2009, Willoughby has spent time on large and small stages in support of his album and has gained support from a growing fan base. His debut album is blended with rockin' tracks like “All This Time” and “I've Got Everything”, to softer songs both soothing and melodic. “No Complaints” was Brian's first song written when he was 17. “'I was feeling strong emotions during the time I wrote 'No Complaints' and I think that's what I needed in order to learn what being a songwriter was all about,” he recollects.
Other tracks on the album include “I'll Be There When I Can” and the closing track “I Believe” which talks about a common dilemma in society. Brian comments, “'I Believe' could relate to many different things but I like to think of a homeless person asking for change...you don't know who's real and who's fake. I think most of us want to help others but sometimes hesitate and wonder if it will actually make a difference”.
Prior to starting an official career as a recording artist, Brian made his first worldwide TV appearance on the Gospel Country Network after being discovered by Dottie Snow, at a regional talent convention.
Brian spent his life growing up in the south. North Carolina has been a haven for his musical inspiration and as a child he was heavily exposed to oldies, soft rock and southern country at an early age. “When I was about 3 years old, I was given a kiddie guitar by my godfather. I ran around the house with it singing 'Johnny B. Goode' and Elvis songs,” he explains.
His influences grew from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Green Day and the Eagles. His style began to surface after writing his first song years later. Brian explains, “I loved playing the guitar but I also wanted to do more...I wanted to feel more when I played so I started singing whatever was on the tip of my tongue and would write it down”.
