The original version of Loaded Gun in the Closet was the last song on the 15 track set of Drive-By Truckers album Decoration Day. Most of the album was recorded live at Chase Park Transduction Studios in Athens,Georgia. Decoration Day was produced by David Barbe and released on 17th June, 2003 with much critical acclaim. Mike Cooley as well as writing "Loaded Gun" also penned "When The Pin Hits The Shell", he also wrote my personal favourite on this album the haunting "Sounds Better In The Song". The other two writers on Decoration Day are lead singer Patterson Hood and Jason Isbell who has since left DBT's and after a few years in the wilderness he took the rehab road and has since carved out a new career with his band The 400 Unit and his wife violin player and songwriter Amanda Shires Read more on Last.fm.
