Biografia

Sergio Sorrentino (1983), chitarrista e compositore, è considerato dalla critica “uno dei più importanti chitarristi italiani dediti alla Nuova Musica” (Radio Rai Tre).
 Alterna l’attività di interprete di Nuova Musica contemporanea (della quale è spesso dedicatario) a quella di musicista sperimentale, improvvisatore e sound artist. Il suo CD “Dream”, prodotto dalla leggendaria Mode Records è stato recensito dal New York Times come “momento migliore di musica classica della settimana” (Marzo 2018). Collabora con il leggendario Gavin Bryars in qualità di membro del Gavin Bryars Italian Ensemble. Si è esibito in duo con altri personaggi fondamentali della nuova musica come Elliott Sharp e Magnus Andersson.
Ha intrapreso presto una brillante carriera internazionale esibendosi come solista e solista con orchestra per Enti prestigiosi quali Yale University, Spectrum (New York City), University of Surrey, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Parigi, ON Koln Neue Musik Festival, Vortex (Londra), Palazzo Wilanow di Varsavia, Mostra Gillo Dorfles (Palazzo Reale di Milano), Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, Auditorium Renzo Piano, Festival de Musica Contemporanea de la Habana.
Ha collaborato con importanti musicisti quali appunto Gavin Bryars, Elliott Sharp, Magnus Andersson e ancora Antonio Caggiano, Sylvano Bussotti, Bruno Canino, Alvin Curran, Alda Caiello, Steven Mackey, Azio Corghi, Piotr Borkowski, Carlo Boccadoro, I Solisti Aquilani, Machinefabriek, John Russell, Marco Angius. Ha inciso per Mode, RaiTrade, Radio Rai, Creative Sources (Lisbona), Silta Records, Flag Day, Fratto9 e pubblicato opere per Casa Ricordi/Universal, Sinfonica, Ars Publica. Il suo brano "De Citharae Natura" è stato premiato al I Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Chitarristica "Goffredo Petrassi" del Conservatorio "Santa Cecilia" di Roma.
