The name comes from the title of a book by George Monbiot. They put together an eight-piece band incorporating live brass, percussion and decks for the Truck festival in 2005. Having played a series of live gigs to widespread acclaim, they spent most of 2007 holed up in their Whitechapel studio writing and developing their sound.
